Pros:
- Big section of the scene is created from custom built assets.
Falcon Peaks - UDK
Cons:
- Overall assets are of a poor quality. The best quality pieces are the foliage & organic meshes, which are in engine assets.
- Too much grey, and too dark. Doesn't have an appealing lighting or atmosphere to the scene.
- Concept & Inspirations drawn too much from Skyrim.
- Aspired to create a large scale scene. Looking back, i should have created a smaller scene, stocked with fewer high quality assets, as apposed to the mediocre scene i created.
Inspired by Skyrim, Falcon Peaks was created for a University Module in my 2nd Year. I was tasked with creating a medium of my choice (real world, fantasy etc) but had to put an adaptation angle onto the scene. I decided to use a massacre angle, with a fantasy mash up, explained more in the video below. I feel i achieved a different angle, particularly with the fact a dock atmosphere is generally more lively, in this case it's shrouded in a deep, misty fog. Around 85% of the 3D assets are created by me. Textures are either self created, or taken from CGTextures and vary in size between 2048 x 2048 to 512x512.
